During the swing time, Lionel Hampton was the only one to symbolize the instrument; at the advent of be-bop, only Milt Jackson and Bobby Hutcherson were recognized by general public. Then would come Gary Burton, a 70's star. Nevertheless there are others!! Too many to be named... For 10 years or so, David Patrois has been one of the most distinguished. His technique, his sense of harmony, his perfect rhythm and his cross style make him the best, I say, in France.
Here, the basic trio, formed by Jean-Charles Richard, Luc Isenmann and David welcomes Sébastien Llado and Pierre Durand : both musicians adapt themselves perfectly to David's compositions. The music, some times complicated but always obvious, is paradoxically enlightened by the lack of double bass. Inheritent of one of the oldest instrument in the world, the Balafoon, David Patrois's vibraphone foreshadows its future. I love his music, as I do, you'll love it. »
