DAVID PATROIS - vibraphone, marimba
 

In 1998 he records a new CD : « Another trio », much inspired by african music. This group includes Jean-Jacques Avenel on double bass and kora, and Pierre Marcault on percussion. They tour a lot in various clubs and festivals, and are invited to a residence in Cotonou (Benin) for a special project with local musicians. They also meet Jack Dejohnette, who gives them a warm support. 


In 2003, he tours around France and Belgium with Ravi Coltrane, Mark Turner, Olivier Gatto and Benjamin Henocq . 

In 2004, tours in Romania with Nicolas Simion, Piotr Wojtasik, Olivier Gatto and Benjamin Henocq . Then he often plays with Nicolas, (Stockholm, Lisboa, Paris…).


His new project « Trio + 2 » is contemporary jazz-oriented with various grooves (jazz, ethnic, rock…) and large spacial sound. It features Jean-Charles Richard on saxophone, Luc Isenmann on drums, Sébastien Llado on trombone and Pierre Durand on guitar.

He teaches vibraphone and leads jazz ensembles in the Conservatoire Régional de Paris.

Born in 1965, David begins his musical studies with classical percussion and graduates in 1986. Then he decides to focus on vibes in the jazz idiom. Having moved to Paris, he takes classes with François Jeanneau, David Friedman and Daniel Humair.

In 1987, he gets a scholarship from the cultural ministry of France to spend one year in the BERKLEE SCHOOL OF MUSIC – USA to study with Gary Burton.


Back to France in 1989, he wins many prices from various jazz contests, and plays with Aldo Romano, Bojan Z, Daniel Humair, J.F. Jenny-Clarck, Louis Winsberg, Michel Benita and many others.


Between 1995 et 1999, he mostly plays with his quintet and records his first CD : « Attraper le temps », with Sylvain Beuf on saxophone, Frédéric Favarel on guitar, Christophe Wallemme on double bass and Benjamin Henocq on drums (1997).
